I ordered this to replace a failing Serial Port card in an industrial control system PC. At first I couldn't get it to work and was about ready to toss it and order one from another manufacturer but I decided to go to the manufacturer's web site to see if there was any support to help.

I installed it on a Windows 7 system. Upon bootup, Windows failed installing drivers. I had downloaded the drivers from Startech's website, but those would give me nothing but an Installation Aborted message. I tried to install the drivers with this card installed and without the card installed.

es perfecto, salvo por un detalle: la caja que contiene el DB9 es muy grande (se ve en la foto), podrían haber cuidado el diseño. Funciona perfectamente, sin fallos, y cumple con lo prometido. Ni te enteras de que existe.

Retiene el puerto serie (com1, com2, etc) aunque lo conectes a otro puerto USB, no necesita drivers Funciono a la primera, no como otros

Pros: I have a Dell PowerEdge 6800 running openSUSE Leap 42.1 and acting as a Xen server. I also have a APC UPS 2200, a huge beast of a UPS. However, the UPS's USB port is busted. I tried using the built in serial port for my server, but it is slaved to Xen as a console port.

Having purchased a new computer, I needed a serial communications card for use in my Amateur radio activities. After much research into the cards available, this card meets the criteria I was looking for. My old computer had a similar card and it functioned perfectly.

startech and serial port cards always work good for me, I use them in older technology serial signature capture devices.

Pros: works just fine, used for serial signature capture device

Cons: nothing negative to say today

It is getting hard to find a mobo with onboard serial, and sometimes you just need a COM1 or COM2 for interface purposes. This answers the mail, and works with everything from Win7 to Win Server 2012R2 and everything in between ...

What can I say, StarTech never dissapoints. I always look to them for odd hardware like this that works in Linux. Had trouble locating the source code for the MosChip on this card to compile the kernel module. Decided just to look on StarTech's website vs.

Pros: All four ports have header connections. Includes low profile brackets. Kernel module source code available on StarTech's website.

Cons: None.
