This is probably the best value you can currently get for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 printers if you decide to stay with the officially approved cartridge. Its 1400-page rating is more than 50% that of the HP 940 Magenta Officejet Ink Cartridge (C4904AN) but it costs only a little more.

Bought this with a cyan cartridge and had it in the printer for a month and the A910 decided to invalidate it after printing maybe 30 pages. The cyan cartridge invalidated itself even though it was a genuine part. The magenta looked pretty magenta-y when it worked, hence the 2 stars.

This product is the same as the one that came with my printer. I find that important because the printer runs a test when a new cartridge is placed in the printer. I'm not saying that an after market cartridge won't work, but its HP so you never know.

I had previously bought a sub-standard cheaper alternative which failed - The Printer is worth the proper Cartridge and this is it!

Better quality print than the remanufactured cartridges -- worth the difference in price, and the sale price made up that difference! As much as I am committed to "reduce, reuse, recycle," I won't go back to the remanufactured cartridges.

VERY LONG LASTING black toner! I print every single day. These cartridges last a long long time. I'm very pleased with HP's printer and toner.
