I have the Torrent 2 and love them, wear them for racing. I mostly do trails with half technical half trail. There quick and precise with the lower profile but I feel every rock, twist and turn. In comes the Mafate Speed. I had very little issues with the technical parts of the trails.

This update is by far my favorite running shoe in the HOKA Mafate lineup. The new jacquard mesh upper is breathable, durable, and fits my foot comfortably. The highly cushioned midsole and grippy Vibram lugs were the two features that stood out to me the most in the Mafate Speed 4.

So this was my second pair, as I bought two at the same time and found both to run a half size big. I ended up with a 5.5's and I'm pretty true to size. They fit phenomenal now and I use them at the gym with my trainer, even when I'm not running these have been great weightlifting and pivoting.

I am enjoying my runs in the Mafate Speed 4. The past models felt stiff and non-responsive to me, but this shoe is a complete overhaul. The shoe was soft from the first time I ran in it. While this is nice, it does give me hesitation about the shoe's longevity.

I really wanted to love this shoe because it's a beautifully designed shoe and love all of its features. I was going to use these primarily for more aggressive hikes. The toe box however is way too narrow and my pinky on my right foot gets squished.
