Acerca del Autor

Born in Brooklyn, NYC in June 1961 I was the oldest of five children born to my father of the same name, a first generation American of English/Irish parents and my mother Carmen a Spanish and Indian Puerto Rican. I attended Catholic school for the first three grades and finished my education in public schools. My parents permanently separated when I was entering fourth grade and I became very withdrawn, discontinued playing sports and ended my boyscout membership. I was admitted to Brooklyn Tech for the ninth grade but was put into private school by my mother. In tenth grade I went to John Jay High School. I joined the Theater club and performed in a musical. I fell in love and had a High School romance. On graduating with a Regents Scholarship I went to Hunter College. Soon my schizophrenia started taking a toll. I dropped out and broke off my engagement and suffered untreated for 6 years. !n 1984 after being nearly fired for on the job disturbances I sought help. I applied for Social Security and was quickly given disability benefits. I started writing in the St Vincent's hospital in Manhattan where I was being treated for suicidal depression and have been writing since.
