Acerca del Autor
Conner, Cindy
Cindy Connor received a degree in Home Economics Education from Ohio State University in 1975 with the intent to help people be more productive at home. She became a market gardener and then began to teach others after receiving frequent calls for help. She was instrumental in establishing the sustainable agriculture program at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (now Reynolds Community College) in Goochland, VA, teaching there from 1999-2010. Independent from the college, she produced two DVDs about cover crops and about garden planning. She is the author of Grow a Sustainable Diet: planning and growing to feed ourselves and the earth (2014) and Seed Libraries and other means of keeping seeds in the hands of the people (2015). She has often sewn her own clothes, and her interest turned to sustainable clothing. In 2011 she learned to spin, then to weave in order to turn her homegrown cotton into clothes. She wanted to encourage others to grow their own clothes, but knew that many people couldn't grow cotton due to climate limitations, so she added flax to her garden and learned to turn that into linen. She has made vests, shirts, and dresses from her homegrown fibers. Some garments have either cotton or flax/linen and some have both fibers in them.Garantía & Otros
