A Spanish or rather 'spanglish' story book that is fun and easier to read to children of 2-6 yrs. The facility to learn a foreign language is much stronger when a child is younger so why wait until they're older? Imagine if your pre-school child could converse in and understand a foreign language. What an advantage this would give them in later life. Storytelling and teaching Spanish to pre-school children for 15 years has been fun and rewarding. From these lessons my storybook THE MAGIC BAG OSITOS was spawned. My method of teaching evolved into this book. It is based on what works, a highly successful method that's been 'road tested' and works in practice. The rhythm and rhyme of the text invites children to participate in the joy of language and learning becomes effortless. In the setting, children laugh at and enjoy the antics of the characters in the stories. The children love getting involved in these stories. They love the role play. They love the Spanish chants and silly songs. Call it what you will - Silly Spanish perhaps . It works for this age group. They get it. In THE MAGIC BAG OSITOS the language learning flows better in a 'spanglish' format with the Spanish language set in context and also phonetically written for pronunciation which gives you the confidence of reading the story fluently to children so no-one need feel embarrassed anymore about speaking Spanish if you have no real experience of this. Bear this in mind, when we hear Spanish people speaking English, how many speak with a perfect English accent? Not many, so why should we worry about speaking perfect Spanish? Buy the book. Pete Davie was born in Anfield, Liverpool, UK. He studied modern languages (French and Spanish) at Sheffield Hallam University and gained his degree in the early 1980's. He put his language skills to use securing employment with a French company in the International Courier industry. After a subsequent 12 month sojourn in New York as Operations Manager, he undertook a European management role based in Brussels. Pete then returned to London (in the same role) and then after 8 years in the international courier industry and considerable travel he returned to Merseyside. He worked in the mail industry for a few years and after enrolling on a 'Leap Into Teaching' course at Liverpool University took the opportunity to work with Fun French. Teaching fun French and silly Spanish to young children (2-5 yrs) gave Pete the opportunity to write THE MAGIC NOUNOURS and THE MAGIC BAG OSITOS in 'franglais' and 'spanglish' formats.
