Fair Opportunity Project is a nonprofit started by Luke Heine and Cole Scanlon to help students attend and afford college from all backgrounds. Sending free college resources to 63,000 public educators each year and featured in Forbes, The New York Times, and The Harvard Education Magazine, Fair Opp continues to work with counselors around the US to help students attend and afford college.
Presently Fair Opportunity Project has over 50 volunteer mentors, is working to increase FAFSA application in Wisconsin via a $476,00 grant, and is continuously updating their resources to make sure that students from all backgrounds have a shot at attending and affording college.

My focus and passion is social impact. After graduating from Wesleyan University, I spent some early days with Planet Propaganda and then earned my master's and doctoral degrees in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I've led winning teams selected for gener8tor's gBETA Social Impact program, StartingBlock Madison's Social Impact Initiative, and Schmidt Future's Alliance for the American Dream competition. I teach undergraduate classes at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on social and policy issues in education. At the Center for Academic Excellence at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I developed communications strategies for reaching different audiences about the challenges of student access and success for first-generation, students of color, and low- income college students. I provided early research and policy support for the launch of WISCAPE, a campuswide research and policy center for postsecondary issues at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and worked for Chancellor David Ward at UW-Madison. Cole Scanlon is an author and entrepreneur with expertise in education, economic development, and health policy. He is the co-founder and co-director of Fair Opportunity Project, an edtech nonprofit that sends free college application advice to almost every public high school in the US, and the Lab for Entrepreneurship and Development, a research lab he co-founded at Harvard's IQSS. Cole won Forbes 30 Under 30, is on the Advisory Board of Yale's Center for Digital Health and Innovation, has degrees from Harvard and Oxford, and previously worked for The World Bank, Goldman Sachs, and Google.
