North American indigenous literature began over thirty thousand years ago when indigenous people began telling stories of emergence and creation, journey and quest, and heroism and trickery. Sean Teuton is Associate Professor of English and Director of Indigenous Studies, University of Arkansas and author of Red Land, Red Power: Grounding Knowledge in the American Indian Novel. He divides his time between Fayetteville, Arkansas and the neighboring Cherokee Nation, where he is a citizen.
