The Lifegate English New Testament (LENT) is an essentially literal translation of the Greek New Testament, based primarily on the Majority Text, with regard to modern biblical scholarship. As a guiding principle for this work, the words in each verse of the LENT text must have their basis in the original Greek text. The LENT has been created to provide its readers with a version of the New Testament that uses common English wording to convey the meaning of the original Greek text, without adding to, subtracting from, or changing the text, so that the original meaning is conveyed in contemporary English clearly. This version can be easily read and understood by a speaker of 21st century American English. It was written to avoid using outdated words and phrases or confusing word order that might puzzle a contemporary reader. Although the verses are worded in a simple, straightforward style, every effort has been made to retain the literary beauty and rich meaning of the original.

Mancuso, J. James
Jim Mancuso and his wife Kathleen reside in Niskayuna, New York. They are blessed to have three grown married children and four wonderful grandchildren. As one of the founding faculty of Northeastern Baptist College in Bennington, Vermont, Jim currently teaches English and serves as VP of Library Services. He also serves as an elder of First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady.
