Omar Ndizeye was ten years old when the genocide against the Tutsi that shook the world began in Rwanda in April 1994. His story starts with reflections on a happy childhood, before Omar goes on to share the painful memories of the shocking moments when his father, young brother and other members of his beloved family and community were slaughtered right before his eyes.
Life and Death in Nyamata is a memoir that brings the reader to an unimaginable place of fear and disbelief, when at any moment life could end. Yet Omar manages to tell his story with a sense of gratitude and joy at being alive.
Journey with Omar as he vividly describes the days preceding the genocide, his escape into the hills of Bugesera, and days of survival believing in the strength of the human spirit to live a life of hope beyond fear, pain and loss.

Acerca del Autor
Ndizeye, Omar
Omar Ndizeye was born in the Bugesera District of Rwanda. As a young boy, he was among the very few who survived the mass killings at Nyamata Catholic Church during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Having witnessed the loss of many family members, Omar decided to dedicate his life to peacebuilding, Author and public speaking in the community, universities, conferences and on radio and TV in Rwanda. He has also taken part in exchange programs in Rwanda, Sri Lanka and Germany. In 2019 Omar participated in The Holocaust Remembrance Week at Weber State University in Utah (USA) as a guest speaker, sharing his remarkable story. Omar is co-author of Journey through Rwandan memorial, a book about the genocide memorials in Rwanda. He lives in Kigali.Garantía & Otros
